“Breaking Out” represents my current journey as an artist. As a young artist I was focused on realism, obsessed with every stroke needing to be perfect and within the lines. Now I know that beauty is born from the ashes of our mistakes. Inspired by Jackson Pollock’s work, we see anything but “within the lines”. The one line there is can be seen represented by the gold leafed column breaking apart and starting to spread across the painting. Freedom is on the other side of that line.
